That said in reading what other folks say about imported vs. Known only what I've read in the Apple docs it seems to me like Exported might be a bit of a strong claim for iA Writer to be making on the rmd extension / markdown in general. RStudio is using CFBundleDocumentTypes which has been deprecated since OS X 10.5 in its mention of rmd: It's not at clear to me if one of them is wrong or if this the an expected incompatibility (expected incompatibility seems less likely for a mature OS platform). rmd extension in their respective plists however, they are doing different things. RStudio and iA Writer are both doing something with the. It looks like this UTI space is dependent on cooperation / can get polluted and is a documented source of vexing errors for others. In the mean time I've done some digging in the plists and dev docs to try and see what I can make of this. You need to nuke launch services and reboot. If you run into this problem and are trying to fix it don't expect an uninstall alone to be a real fix. It's a nice to have and Rstudio is a gotta have. If someone runs into this problem the best work around I have found at this point is just uninstalling iA writer. I have done my best to include a minimal, self-contained set of instructions for consistently reproducing the issue.I have installed the latest version of RStudio and confirmed that the issue still persists.I have read the guide to submitting good bug reports at.It looks like this may be similar to #2284 Describe the behavior you expectedįor Rmd files to be separable from md files regardless of other applications installed on the system.
